The 2020 Maine sea duck hunting season was a reflection of the times for us. We had many wonderful days on the water. Our clients bagged some beautiful birds for their game rooms and we saw very consistent gunning this past season.
One husband and wife duo managed to bag their Eider limits from our layout boat in under 30 minutes! Great shooting! Some clients bagged their first banded birds with us this year. One hen Eider band was found to be over 16 years old and banded right here in Stonington, Maine.
All-in-all, we could not complain about the sea duck hunting. It was superb!  But, it certainly was a tough year to be in the Travel & Tourism business, due to the issues caused by the Pandemic. High winds and rough sea conditions seemed to plague us as well this season. However, we just made the best of it and plodded ahead as best we could.  Our clients were great sports!  Unfortunately as good as the early and mid-season were to us, we concluded our year earlier than expected and chalked it up to 2020!
We brought our new 2021 G3 duck boat online in late November. We will continue to work on customizing her for the waterfowl upcoming season.
Over the years, clients have asked if they could purchase a working decoy from us. Our answer had always been “No”, as we did not have any “old” decoys for sale. This fall, we hope to be able to offer a few of our working, hand painted, sea duck decoys to clients as memento of their adventures with us. Our intention is to remove a decoy right from the line at the conclusion of their hunt. We hope we can get enough extra decoys constructed and painted to meet the demand.  Our decoys are not your average, run-of-the-mill, duck decoy.  It requires many hours to complete just one!
Since we needed to reschedule several hunts this past season, we have limited availability for the 2021 season. You should consider booking early if you’re planning a Maine sea duck hunt with us this year.
